Editor: Some folks in Sechelt are crowing that “Sechelt never looked better.” Perhaps they don’t realize that it might be because Sechelt’s debt ratio has never looked worse.

Editor: Taylor Martin seems to have missed a few points in his letter to the editor regarding the new wastewater treatment plant (Coast Reporter, Oct. 24).

Editor: My first view of Gibsons was flying over it in a floatplane. What a pretty sight it was with houses nestled on a hillside going down to a little harbour with an assortment of boats.

Editor: In our recent 2014 strategic planning session, the Sunshine Coast Clean Air Society (SCCAS) named mitigating industrial pollution as a top priority.

Editor: Last week’s shooting of a soldier at the War Memorial in Ottawa and a gun man on the loose in Parliament and the earlier running over of two soldiers in Quebec are tragic and terrifying events.

Editor: Re: Metro Vancouver Incinerator The Greater Vancouver Regional District has been reviewing sites for the potential location of a waste to energy incinerator. Port Mellon, on the Sunshine Coast, was one location that was identified.

Editor: In response to the article on page 5 (Coast Reporter, Oct. 24) I would like to make a comment on one sentence in the article that I found offensive.

Editor: I’m compelled to comment on a letter in this paper from Bronson Moore, a resident of Sechelt. The letter was titled “Derogative comments serve little purpose” (Coast Reporter, Oct. 24).

Editor: I’m a grandmother, part of a generation that always complained that young people did not get involved in running our country.

Editor: I am shocked and appalled at reading articles and listening to comments about divisiveness and negative tones in Gibsons town meetings. To me it shows that the call for transparency and democracy is still alive and well.
