Editorial

Editor: In spite of the signage indicating otherwise, only three incumbent candidates for council are up for re-election in Gibsons. It’s informative to compare the overall job performance of the two who are completing their first term in office.

Editor: In an age when many people are too busy in their own lives and careers to participate in municipal politics, I am impressed to see the qualifications of some of the candidates running for Gibsons council.

Editor: I attended the Gibsons all-candidates meeting last week and felt somewhat disappointed.

Editor: On Nov. 11 we will be honouring those members of our armed forces who paid the supreme sacrifice to protect our nation’s democracy. This year, four days afterwards, we will be electing our next District mayor and council.

Editor: While many find the stickers and displays that circulate Sechelt to be negative and distasteful, I think that it’s far more important to look past the stickers to what they represent.

Editor: It is time to stand back from the trees and look at what Sechelt’s assets are.
