Oftentimes I hear people wondering why newspapers, including ours, seem to focus on what's wrong with our society. They want to see more good news stories, especially on the front page.

Editor: Thank-you Dianne Goldberg for putting into words exactly what I was thinking after reading the Sept. 4 issue (Coast Reporter, letters, Sept. 11). All week I was trying to put my anger and sadness on paper, but you said it perfectly.

Editor: I am saddened and dismayed that the Sunshine Coast Regional District and the Sechelt Indian Band are looking at an independent power project.

Editor: I find it quite curious that two local governments, the Sunshine Coast Regional District and the Sechelt Indian Band should be "eligible" to apply for a licence for an independent power project: i.e. run of river project.

Editor: This morning at 8 a.m. on Sept. 21, I tried to do my recycling at the IGA drop off area in Gibsons and I found a disgusting display of boxes, papers, egg cartons, bottles, cans, plastics, ect.

Editor: I get dizzy from MP John Weston's constant "spin" on problems facing this country. When you state in a recent article on upgrading local small craft harbours that, "The Conservative government understands that the commercial fishery in B.C.

Editor: So our new education minister suggests with the cutbacks to the schools sports programs, the students instead of participating in organized team sports, walk, dance and play in the park to get in shape.

Editor: Your assertion that "another election is a big waste of time, energy and money" (Coast Reporter, editorial, Sept. 11) is certainly in lockstep with conventional wisdom -for what that is usually worth.

Editor: I am responding to theletter from Ms. Comerford (Coast Reporter, Sept. 4). I am having a little trouble swallowing the idea that this new change to two lanes is safer for everyone.

Editor: I learned today why I moved to Sechelt and love it here so much. As you know, the Aquatic Centre has been closed for several weeks for repairs. Today (Sept.
