Editor: Regarding the announcement of a new facility to replace Shorncliffe and Totem Lodge, what else did VCH forget to mention about the changes to come? Inter-facility moves for the frail can create enough stress to cause premature death.

Editor: Other than a few sunny days, over the last few weeks we have had a lot of rain.

Editor: Vancouver’s bulging at the seams, Los Angelizing valley dreams. To the north are mountain walls, South and west the ocean calls. Traffic madness is insane, Housing prices up again.

Editor: We’ve been hearing a lot about distracted driving lately. And most of us immediately think of cellphone use. But according to the bc.rcmp.

Editor: Re: Assisted dying. At last count there were an estimated 7.4 billion people on this cute little planet, and David Attenborough tells us that the planet is capable of providing sustainable support for about two to three billion.

Editor: Re: “Lehigh to grow workforce by 50% and reclaim parts of mine,” Coast Reporter, June 3. Congratulations to Lehigh on the dampening of any attempt at a “dust up” over their expanding operations. More jobs – promise.

Editor: Yes indeed, the George marketing machine is in high gear (Coast Reporter, June 3). I note their line that “the project has received overwhelming support.

Editor: Re: “Society honours founding member,” Coast Reporter, June 3. I’ve known Julie Skippon for the last 23 years. I’ve never met a more gracious or humble person. Her work for folks living with mental illness is legendary on the Coast.

Editor: Many thanks to Christine Wood for her article about our annual general meeting celebration of 30 years working with our Sunshine Coast Branch of the B.C. Schizophrenia Society (“Society honours its founding member,” June 3).

Editor: Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is going the way of many public enterprises (e.g., BC Ferries and TransLink) in choosing to not take responsibility for the welfare of the people they represent.
