Skippon a true role model

Editor: Re: “Society honours founding member,” Coast Reporter, June 3. I’ve known Julie Skippon for the last 23 years. I’ve never met a more gracious or humble person. Her work for folks living with mental illness is legendary on the Coast.

I’ve known Julie Skippon for the last 23 years. I’ve never met a more gracious or humble person. Her work for folks living with mental illness is legendary on the Coast. I am so happy to see her efforts recognized. Without her efforts (so well documented in the June 3 article), life would be even more dismal for many Sunshine Coast residents. As Hugh Macaulay states in his column in the same issue, there is still a long way to go in taking care of the vulnerable among us. I can’t help but wonder who will take on Julie’s advocacy role. She truly is a wonderful woman and anyone with a cause would do well to study her.

It is possible to make a difference respectfully. Julie showed us how.
