Editor: Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) has confirmed that Shorncliffe and Totem will close in 2018 (Coast Reporter, June 3). Care for seniors will be transferred to the private sector.

Editor: On Thursday afternoon it took me 25 minutes to get from the Independent supermarket to Selma Park Road. When they’re not messing with the highway, it takes me five minutes.

Editor: When my fellow West Vancouverite Garry Rasmussen stood at the microphone on Saturday to persuade over 2,000 Tories to vote for a resolution from our riding, it was a moment of victory for our riding and for all British Columbians.

Editor: In response to your editorial of May 19 regarding political correctness and Trudeau’s elbow (“A bad day for political correctness”), one wonders if that is really the important takeaway from the matter.

Editor: Humour or satire? The cartoon in last week’s paper was probably a bit of both, depending on what stood out for the reader. Comparing a drunk driver to a stoned driver is a poor example of making the argument that they are one and the same.

Editor: Re: “MPs’ mail-out unwelcome,” Letter by Sally Wilson, May 20. On the other hand … I found our MP Pam Goldsmith-Jones’ Householder to be a helpful update.

Editor: Re: “Unfair Taxation,” Letter by Kathryn Para, May 27. Ms. Para has erred in stating that water metering is unfair taxation, claiming that “we already pay for water based on our property values.

Editor: Here we go again. Before spending our money to educate us about water conservation, the SCRD needs to educate itself as to the number of summertime users who access it.
