Editor: In consideration of World Water Week, it is important to be clear about our precious source of drinking water, Chapman Creek, which provides over 80 per cent of our region’s water.

Editor: The letters from Kathy Para (“Water 101”) and Chester Machniewski (“Overreaction on watershed”) in last week’s Coast Reporter do contribute to the water supply debate on the Coast – to a point.

Editor: I didn’t know whether to laugh or scream when I saw the letter entitled “Overreaction on watershed” (Coast Reporter, March 18).

Editor: Re: “Coast police lacking in manpower,” March 4. No government department need ever again be “short-staffed” and this includes RCMP, public works, office workers, etc.

Editor: This letter is to raise awareness of the SCRD’s plan to implement Stage 5 indoor and outdoor water restrictions (more severe than Stage 4 outdoor water restrictions) for 365 days of the year and for future decades.

Editor: I just heard that last fall a beautiful bear and her three cubs were destroyed by a conservation officer. I am stunned and extremely upset because this family came to my pond regularly to swim and hang out.

Editor: There are many wonderful examples of dedicated people working together to bring dreams to reality. The isolated community of the Sunshine Coast wanted an arena in the Gibsons area, over 10 years ago.

Editor: Environment Minister Catherine McKenna’s March 18 decision that the Woodfibre LNG project “is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental impacts” put me in mind of a petition the federal Liberals, while in opposition, asked Canadia

Editor: I am saddened and dismayed that federal Environment Minister Catherine McKenna has given the “green light” – an oxymoron if there ever was one – in approving the Woodfibre LNG project. However, I am not surprised.
