The Pender Harbour Bananas ended a year-long winless streak with a 4-2 victory over first-place Ridgepoint in Sunshine Coast Men's Soccer League action last weekend.

It was an action packed game between U15 Navy and Red in Sunshine Coast Youth Soccer Association House League action last weekend. Red came out strong like a well-oiled machine. Paul Fedor and Alleyne Cook both had very strong games.

The Gibsons Curling Club has welcomed a new ice maker this year as it begins its new season. Gord Twanow, formerly head ice technician at the Parksville Curling Club, started in Gibsons Sept. 16.

Valhalla Strength and Conditioning Gym members had a recent run of success at several off-Coast competitions.

A developmental clinic for the proposed field lacrosse league has been scheduled for next Thursday, Sept. 26 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Elphinstone Secondary School upper field.

Gibsons' George Vourtsis put it all on the line last Friday night in Langley, coming up just short in his chance at the Canadian title. Vourtsis battled with Lucas Rowe of Kitchener Ont.
