The high school volleyball season is winding down for Coast teams, but it has been a solid season with teams making the playoffs while others play their last league games before the playoff push.
In bantam girls, the Elphinstone Cougars completed a 4-6 regular season bouncing back from four straight losses to start the season to win four of their last six matches. Wins came against Rockridge, Collingwood, Seycove and St. Thomas Aquinas.
The Cougars lost a close opening round playoff game with Windsor 3-2 on Monday to end their season.
The Chatelech bantam girls completed a 3-6 regular season, winning their first match of the season against West Vancouver before dropping four in a row. The Eagles bounced back though to win two of their next four with wins over Rockridge and Seycove.
The Eagles also opened the playoffs on Monday and lost 3-0 to Handsworth.
The juvenile girls from Elphinstone had an impressive regular season finishing with a 6-2 record. The Cougars won their first four matches over St. Thomas Aquinas, Mulgrave, Windsor and Sentinel before losing a pair to Argyle and Collingwood. They bounced back, beating West Van and Handsworth last week.
Elphi opened the playoffs on Monday with a 3-0 win over West Vancouver and advanced to the semifinal against Windsor on Wednesday. The result was not available at press time.
In junior girls, the Cougars completed a 3-5 regular season with wins over Seycove, Sutherland and Argyle. Elphi lost 3-1 to Sentinel in Monday's playoff game.
Both senior girls teams from Elphi and Chatelech are still finishing their respective regular seasons.
The Eagles have a record of 4-4 with two matches left before the playoffs begin next week. Chatelech has won four of its last six matches after losing its first two. Wins include Collingwood, Rockridge (twice) and Mulgrave.
The Cougars sit at 3-2 with three straight wins over Sentinel, West Vancouver and Windsor.
