Coast chapter announces new community champion

In every community across B.C., kids want a chance to play sport. Unfortunately, some families simply can't afford the registration fees for their child to play in a season of sport.

First call for performance a hit

The Ice Painting Project Society hosted the first Call for Participation for Performance for Ice Gate, Saturday, Sept. 12 at St. Mary's Catholic Church auditorium in Gibsons. About 25 members of the public attended, with more than 15 signing up.

The Mount Artaban Nature Reserve was filled with pride as Gambier islanders gathered under blue skies on Saturday, Aug. 22, to celebrate the grand opening of the newly protected area and to hike to the mountain's summit.

Runs in Roberts Creek and Gibsons next Sunday

The 28th annual Terry Fox Run, which raises money for cancer research, will take place Sunday, Sept. 13, in both Roberts Creek and Gibsons. The Roberts Creek 10 km run begins at 10 a.m., starting and finishing at Roberts Creek Elementary School.

Local cadets get their wings
