When the Great War came, Grandpapa George was an electrician in northern New Brunswick. He signed up to go to the trenches of France and served as a gunnery sergeant.

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful week and are adjusting well with the time change. The mornings are a little lighter, but the evenings sure seem to come earlier now.

Pamela Gregorchuk and Carmelita Weichert present a cheque for $200 to Carey Rumba at the food bank in Sechelt on behalf of the Catholic Women’s League of Holy Family Parish.

Since the pandemic hit in March, Leanne and Bobby Bruce have been coordinating a grocery supply chain to get sundries to Gambier Island, while Paco Cauley used his boat to help residents get garbage to a collection site at Langdale.

For the next month Sunshine Coast residents will be turning empty shoeboxes into gifts – filled with toys, school supplies and hygiene items, notes of encouragement, and fun toys such as a doll or juggling balls.

Sunshine Coast RCMP are now part of Project Rainbow, a national initiative created by Cpl. Brendan Harkness. Harkness, an RCMP officer since 2008, started working on the idea two years ago while serving as detachment commander in Hudson Hope, B.C.

Mercury was at inferior conjunction – between us and the Sun – on Oct. 25. By Nov. 4 it will be far enough west of the Sun to start being visible just before sunrise, say 6 a.m. The best way to find it is to look ESE where Venus is blazing away.
