With COVID restrictions still in place, the annual Gibsons Community Easter Dinner will be served up “to go.”

On Sunday, April 4, between 4 and 6 p.m., community volunteers working out of the Gibsons Legion Hall will prepare, dish up and package individual dinners of ham, scalloped potatoes, mixed vegetables, coleslaw and a dessert.

Word on the street is that the Easter Bunny will be leaving treats for the kids, too.

Organizers emphasize this is a community dinner – an opportunity for everyone to share in breaking bread to celebrate Easter.

Planning to attend? Please text or call 604-865-2011 before April 1 and let organizers know how many meals are requested, and how many children are in the household. Volunteers will deliver meals to those who are immune-compromised, self-isolating or otherwise housebound.

This event grows each year, with more community groups participating. This year, the Gibsons Public Market, the Elphinstone Secondary School Interact Club and the Elphie Culinary Arts students, Re/Max City Realty, SuperValu, and Gibsons Christian churches working together provided volunteers and contributions to ensure that all who wish to, may enjoy a traditional “home-cooked” dinner.
