Are you a senior needing transportation to a medical appointment? The Pender Harbour Health Centre has a wheelchair-accessible van service. Book by calling the community coordinator at 604-251-7488 every Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the following week or if you have questions. There is a fee for this service.

With spring arriving, so do the babies of the Coast’s precious wildlife. Sadly, there are animals in distress year-round as was the case of the female eagle suffering from lead poisoning in our area. Coastal Wildlife Rescue, Tammy Trefry and her husband Jeff, are here to help 24/7 and educate. I have called twice, had my call returned within five minutes, with advice offered and Tammy on-site within the hour. They have an immense history of rescuing, rehabilitating, releasing and coordinating with the Conservation Officer Service and government authorities. Visit their Facebook page or call Tammy at 604-399-8502 or Jeff at 604-399-9130.

The vaccinations are underway but we all must remember to follow the protocols and practise them to stay safe as new daily cases, including variants, continue to be extremely high in the province.
