The holiday season is looming and our local artisans and crafters are busy at many local fairs. Here are some of the fairs and markets you need to know about this week.

The Merry Island Lighthouse is one of 27 lighthouses in B.C. that are still staffed—24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

Sunshine Coast’s two arenas saw plenty of action last weekend for the season’s first local tournament, organized by the Sunshine Coast Minor Hockey Association.

After retiring to the Sunshine Coast, Mary Lou Owen went back to school to learn how to build a website and found friendship along the way. From the friendship came a unique gift for future students.

Franny and Leo Vandenberg’s home on the bluff in Gibsons is an outstanding showcase for Franny’s collection of art and Leo’s ironwork. This spectacular four-level home designed by the Vandenbergs plummets down, embracing the cliff side that faces Shoal Channel, the waterway between the bluff and Keats Island.

The Sunshine Coast Camera Club will host award-winning photographer, Kathryn McGarvey, on Dec. 6. She will speak about her preparations for a photo shoot in South Africa’s Kruger National Park.
