He faced every challenge in life with admirable strength and courage. He approached every person with curiosity and was able to to see the joy and humour in even what might be seen as the worst moments in life.'

Obituary: Bernard (Bart) Duteau

'Bart had a thirst for life, so in his teens he hopped on a train and worked at a logging camp on Vancouver Island before being sent home for being underage. At 18, he joined the navy for a year and then took up various jobs across Canada working for Ontario Hydro, Gulf Oil, Wildwood Surveying in Alberta, and on a survey crew in Thunder Bay. In BC in the 1950's, he surveyed parts of the Coquihalla, Prince George, McBride, and Stewart Cassiar Highways.'
