Obituary: Robert L. Alsager

'Robert was a man of few words, yet lots of good stories with a host of honest smiles. He was an observer of the world and told many tales of the wildlife he encountered during the years he operated his logging company.'

Robert L. Alsager

January 31, 1926 - February 14, 2023

Robert quietly slipped away in the presence of family on February 14th, 2023 at age 97. Predeceased by his wife Marion, parents Eric and Belle, brother Lawrence and sister Pauline. He is survived by his children Karen (Wilf), Ginny (Wayne) and Andy (Melanie), his grandchildren Paul, James, Caitlin, Emilie, Reid, Taylor, Casey and Mackenzie, and great-grandchildren Brayden, Isabelle, Mya, Kyle, Sunny, Levon and Cosmo.

Born and raised on the family farm in Langley, Robert was no stranger to hard work and at an early age set out on his own as a Cat operator working in the Lower Mainland. In his early 20's he met Marion at a dance in Langley and soon settled in New Westminster where they started their family.

In 1957 the Sunshine Coast became their new home and Robert embarked on a life in forestry on the Sunshine Coast, Redonda Bay and the Homathko River.

Robert was a man of few words, yet lots of good stories with a host of honest smiles. He was an observer of the world and told many tales of the wildlife he encountered during the years he operated his logging company.

In his retirement, he could be found walking the Mahan Trail making friends, both human and dog.

Robert had a loving, kind heart and a great sense of humour. His enduring legacy is the love he had for his family.

We want to give special thanks to Dr. Nancy Yao, the home care nurses and the wonderful assisted living staff at Christenson Village for the compassionate care he received during his time with them.

The family will gather to celebrate Robert's life at a later date.
