March 30, 1932 to February 10, 2023

“Love never dies; It lives on in all of those whom you touched with your love, kindness & generosity.”

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Margaret Thorne. Born in Barbados to Neville & Nina Howell, she attended Codrington High School and then at 17, went to England to study nursing at the Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford University UK. On a return holiday to Barbados, she met & married Trevor Thorne, also of Barbados. They had 2 children, Monica & Marilyn and in 1969, emigrated to Canada.

In 1994 they moved to Sechelt, BC and built their dream home on Chartwell Drive. Here they shared love, laughter, music & wine with family, friends and wonderful neighbours alike. After her beloved Trevor died in 2010, she moved to the Beach House apartments & eventually, as her health declined, to Christenson village, Gibsons. Here, with her daughter beside her, she finally passed away peacefully, floating into the arms of her beloved Trev so they can dance together again forever.

Margaret and Trevor leave behind two children, Marilyn (Rod), Monica & grand dog, Kizzy. Her daughters, Lana (Ryan), Jenna (Jared) and their son, Max. Margaret is also survived by brother, Geoff and Sister Janet, of Barbados. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, cheeky wit, ‘Mar’isms’ and fondness for a little ‘tipple’ of wine. Rest In Eternal Peace Mum. Love you forever and always.

Funeral to be held Saturday, March 25th at 2pm, St. Hilda's Anglican Church, Sechelt
