Editor: Dr. Paul Martiquet writes an excellent column on disordered eating ("Sugar and the obesity problem," Coast Reporter, June 7), but I'd like to take exception to some of his terminology.

Editor: Welcome to the Surveillance State ... you're late. As this week's National Security Agency's (NSA) electronic spying revelations trickle down through the media, some people are feeling shocked about how far-reaching the whole affair is.

Editor: Re: Elected to represent all views (Coast Reporter letters, June 13) There's only one way to achieve this - we need more directors. Perhaps government is due for an overhaul.

As the calendar flips around to this Sunday and Father's Day, I'm reminded about how much my dad means to me and the special bonds that we share. Like many sons and their dads, our connections run deep and are centred on (what else?) - sports.

Editor: On the evening of June 9, once again, the bypass in Langdale - a public road - becomes B.C. Ferries' overflow parking lot.

Editor: Editor Ian Jacques' June 7 editorial "Halt the gravy train" was right on. The Senate is another costly public institution living off taxpayers' hard-earned money.

The following letter was sent to BC Timber Sales and copied to Coast Reporter. It was noted June 6 by a first aid attendant working at the Watermark complex in Sechelt that 15 logging trucks drove through Sechelt on June 6.

Editor: I've noticed in some letters lately that people say Vancouver ruined the Granville Street corridor by installing a mall in the street. That really is not where the downfall exists with that problem.

Positive business and development are popping up everywhere on the Coast - and it's exactly the kind of momentum and shot in the arm we need. In recent weeks the success stories are everywhere.

Editor: Violence against women is a pervasive human rights abuse that touches every corner of the globe.
