The Sea Cavalcade committee is stuck between a rock and a hard place - and it is not from their lack of effort, butrather a lack of consideration from some in our community.

Editor: Now that the Cowrie parking issue has been settled and will encourage more distance walking, let those in charge consider safety over convenience. Walking in Sechelt is not easy.

Editor: I'm sure glad the election is over! My doctor once said that if a man lives long enough he will die of prostate cancer. I think the BS will kill you before that happens. A wise man once said that politicians are merely puppets.

Editor: There are a lot of reasons for us (B.C.) to change to proportional representation. On voting night one of them came into focus. Despite an overwhelming success of her party, Christy Clark did not win her own seat.

Editor: Yesterday (Monday, May 20) was our recycling day. It was also the start of our summer visitors and weekenders going back to the city after enjoying our beautiful piece of B.C.

All too often on the municipal front on the Sunshine Coast the news appears to be primarily negative. This week is a distinct departure from the norm.

The plot of the Stanley Kubrick film Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb pivots around an insane U.S. general starting nuclear Armageddon out of a misguided devotion to the purity of water.

Editor: The potential to get a passenger-only ferry service in place for summer 2013 provides an opportunity that should be supported and embraced by the greater Gibsons community.

Editor: Re: Concordia to pay for sinkhole fix I read with interest Christine Wood's article regarding the Seawatch development (Coast Reporter, May 10) and felt compelled to ask several questions.

Editor: Sechelt Mayor John Henderson has recently acknowledged that we have a structural deficit and that it has existed for a number of years. He went on to indicate current and desired steps for funding from the federal and provincial governments.
