If you build it they will come. It's not just a famous movie line anymore. It's a tagline for an amazing opportunity that could make Sechelt a world-class mountain bike destination.

Editor: In recent letters to the editor it has been suggested that trappers have set traps around Chapman Creek Hatchery and Chapman Creek, for the purpose of trapping otters that were preying on released and spawning salmon.

Editor: I do believe that Frank McIlroy, in his letter last week (Coast Reporter, Oct. 18) would, on reflection, change his wording. He just about places anybody and everybody involved in the Sechelt Aquatic Centre, under suspicion.

Editor: I was pleased to read that Donna Shugar has raised questions and concerns regarding the proposal to expand the Sechelt airport (Coast Reporter, Oct. 18).

Editor: The purpose of legalizing marijuana is neither to promote its use, nor proclaim it harmless, but rather to recognize that it in common with other toxic substances that are widely consumed (cf.

Editor: I arrived in Gibsons from England on Aug. 1 for a three-month stay and next week I leave for home.

Editor: For the first time ever, I actually read a "Your Place of Worship" column by Pastor Theo Hoekstra. It was a revelation to me to hear that, as an unbeliever, I hate Christians.

Editor: I just received a phone call from the vet for Captain Midnight. They informed me that two citizens walked into their office and paid the entire balance of the account. Like my vet, I am truly overwhelmed and words are not enough.

Editor: Small businesses are the heart and soul of communities. They support families and keep local economies strong. The owners are parents, coaches and volunteers who make a difference every day.

There's good news on the education front this week with the release of the 2013 to 2016 Achievement Contract by School District No. 46. The targets the trustees have set are lofty, but ones we believe are doable.
