Editor: Re: “Sechelt council approves changes to Strand waterfront development,” Aug. 14.

Editor: I heard that some neighbours have been offended by my letter last week (“Creepy note went too far”). I apologize. My intention was not to offend nor accuse my neighbours.

Editor: Re: “Big setback for ice groups,” Letters, Aug. 21. This year has been like no other for our recreation programs. Indoor lacrosse, roller derby and pickleball all lost their entire summer season in the arenas.

Editor: I have never stayed at an Airbnb short-term rental (STR) but friends and family have, so I’m fully aware of the advantages. “What’s the big deal?” you may ask if you don’t have an STR near you.

Parents, students and staff will have a better idea next week of what “back to school” will look like during the COVID-19 pandemic, as school districts across the province face an Aug. 26 deadline to post their reopening plans.

A new statistic has emerged that shows the reach of COVID-19 goes well beyond those who test positive. The new stat refers to how many people are in “isolation” for 14 days after contracting COVID-19 or being exposed to it.

Editor: When I first came to the Coast 45 years ago, there were no ferry reservations, because you didn’t need them. You always got on the ferry, no waits, apart from holiday weekends. Since then tourism has boomed and the population has tripled.

Editor: I am responding to Des Delaney’s letter (“Lack of leadership,” Aug. 14) as a grateful Gibsons Zone 3 resident attending the brief ceremony to mark the completion of infrastructure taking us off the SCRD and onto the Gibsons water system.

Editor: During the last weeks of July, the Village Restaurant’s management, staff and their patrons did a fundraiser on my behalf, without my knowledge. They were raising funds to purchase a WeWalk cane, for me.

Editor: A nosy neighbour took their nosiness too far and became creepy. They posted a letter on our front door telling us to stop watering our plants due to Stage 3 watering restrictions.
