Editor: Just a friendly reminder for all motorists to share the road with cyclists. It is greatly appreciated when you slow down and give cyclists a wide berth when going around them.

Editor: I would like to address our MP John Weston about the Howe Sound layoffs. Mr. Weston, where have you been? I would’ve thought that a layoff of this magnitude from your riding’s largest employer would constitute some kind of reaction from you.

Editor: This is a tough time for our community. Our thoughts are with all those affected by the closure of paper production operations at the Howe Sound mill.

Editor: I was surprised to see the numerous attacks on Silas White over his decision to recuse himself from decisions on the George, which seem to come from both supporters and opponents of the George project. It would appear that Coun.

Editor: Seems it’s “open season” on Councillors Lumley and White. They are being openly harangued by George project supporters for not marching blindly to the George drum regardless of the complex information that is before them.

Editor: I’m surprised by the vehement reaction to Coun. White’s declared conflict of interest in consideration of the proposed George Hotel.

Editor: The Tuwanek area has long been a recreational destination for the Coast. Each year brings more people and activity. We have experienced increased traffic on the roads and water.

Editor: I read with interest the recent article on the flotilla protest in Howe Sound (Coast Reporter, July 17).

Editor: Re: “Halfmoon Bay local parades with Ceremonial Guard,” July 3. Given that I am from Halfmoon Bay, there is indeed a very small connection to the Ceremonial Guard in Ottawa, where I have been tasked out to this summer.
