The Tuwanek area has long been a recreational destination for the Coast. Each year brings more people and activity. We have experienced increased traffic on the roads and water. While not unexpected, some on-the-water usage activities are not always compatible with each other.
The success of Pedals and Paddles is adding considerably to the non-motorized water activities to Lamb Bay. While kayaks, canoes and standup paddleboards are compatible with swimming and scuba diving activities, fast motorized boats and jet skis are not. The community has addressed this by supporting a Slow Zone area in Lamb Bay.
We want to acknowledge that these buoys are being noticed and the boaters are transiting the area slowly. This prime water recreation area is now much safer for all users.
