Editor: Thank you to the Reporter for opening up the question of emergency planning in the last issue.

'Many retirees here have breathing issues. Other Coastal residents are more likely than those in B.C.’s inland areas to regularly exercise outdoors. We need this information from our government.'

The editorial reflects its times; for example, there are a dozen references to males in the workforce, a pointed snub of the women.

'It takes every single person on this planet to come together now, or there is no hope for our precious planet.'

'Building a bridge would destroy everything that makes this place special!'

'What we have not heard about, is the plan to “fireproof” the campground in Roberts Creek which is situated just above us. In the perilous drought conditions we have experienced over the past several years, we have not seen one effort to keep the campground from becoming a tinder box, ready to explode at the slightest provocation.'

The news of MLA Nicholas Simons' choice to step back from elected life prompted reflection on how actions supported by the B.C.  government have affected the southern Sunshine Coast since his election in 2005.

'Unfortunately, we have no photos of the journey after it left Surrey – too caught up in prepping for arrival. Our only surviving parent will be visiting soon, and we would like to share with her the full experience of what happened.'

'There were certainly other more important and less contentious naming changes that would have likely been suggested if real community to community consultation had occurred.'
