Last week saw over 200 young athletes finish off their 2018 volleyball season, with a Grade 4/5 volleyball jamboree held at Gibsons Elementary, and the 6/7 Play Day hosted by Elphinstone.

Sunshine Coast Skating Club

On Saturday, Dec. 1, the Sechelt arena will join communities across the province and open its doors to the public for World Juniors Skate Day, marking the official countdown to the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship, taking place Dec. 26 to Jan. 5.

Volleyball

Tahlaela Marks of shíshálh Nation was among the eight Indigenous youth to receive the 2018 Premier’s Award for Indigenous Youth Excellence in Sports from B.C.’s Fraser Region. Marks was honoured with the award at a ceremony on Nov.

The Sunshine Coast Minor Hockey Association hosted several teams from Qiqihar, China in February this year.

Last weekend the Sunshine Coast Minor Hockey Atom A team travelled to Victoria for the T3 Saanich Atom A Remembrance Day Tournament and returned to the Coast with a gold medal.

Gibsons pistol shooter Allan Harding earned Team Canada a quota spot at the Pan Am Games thanks to his performance at the 2018 Shooting Championships of the Americas in Guadalajara, Mexico, which ran from Nov. 1 to 11.

The Sunshine Coast Skating Club is extremely proud of three competitive stream skaters who attended this past weekend's 2019 Super Series BC/YK Section Championships held in Coquitlam Nov. 8 to 12.
