Skater of the Month for January is Megan Bloemhard. Megan is 12 years old and attends Grade 7 at Gibsons Elementary School. Megan says, “What I love about skating is you are able to express your feelings in every little movement you make. When I am not skating I love to hang out with friends and bake.” Megan’s professional coaches Lesleigh Farr and Daryl Austman say, “Megan is a Star 4 STAR skater. She won a silver medal at Jingle Blades in November. She attends both on and off ice training as well as the skater ballet at Waldorf. She also gives back by volunteering with CanSkate as a Program Assistant. Megan recently performed at the Canucks Alumni Game, attended the Patrick Chan seminar in Vancouver, and will be competing at the upcoming Regional Championships in Richmond. Megan always brings a smile and positive attitude and is a great role model and committed skater. Keep up the good work, Megan!”
