Members of the Coast Classic Tennis Tournament organizing committee present a cheque for $30,000 to Denis Fafard, chair of the Sunshine Coast Hospice Society. The funds were raised from the Suncoast Racquet Club’s inaugural tennis tournament.

SCMHA Head Coach Tom Poulton’s two teams, Bantam C1 and some Midget C1 players partnered with Sunshine Coast Community Services volunteering their time in this past weekend’s Clothing Swap on Sept. 29 at Seaside Centre.

Twenty-one members from two Lower Mainland Jiu Jitsu schools, including Gibsons Gracie Jiu Jitsu, were in attendance at a recent seminar in Seattle.

Jenna Nestman of Roberts Creek took home a silver medal in the 2018 Canadian Track Championships held Sept. 27 to 29 in Milton, Ont. Nestman and her racing partner, Lizanne Wilmot, placed second in the women’s team sprint race with a time of 35.

Great sunny weather prevailed for the opening day of the Sunshine Coast Women’s Soccer League (SCWSL) on Sunday, Sept. 23. There are six teams made up of players from Gibsons to Pender Harbour, ranging in age from 19 to 60+.

Skater of the Month for September is adult skater Shannon Maclean. Shannon has been working hard to put together two new programs to compete in the International Adult Competition. The event will be held in Vancouver Oct.
