South Delta may have come away the winner at last weekend’s Sunshine Coast Winter Classic Peewee C hockey tournament, but the appearance of a special fan imbued the entire three-day competition with celebratory spirit.

The SCYSA U17 Eagles return with strong team play and winning results. On Oct. 13 the boys dominated the Windsor School pitch over North Vancouver FC Fury. Brayden Zayshley started off the scoring receiving a beautiful cross from Derek Ewen.

Many thanks to the Douglas College Royals Heart of a Lion Women’s Basketball Team for coming to the Coast and offering Special Olympic athletes an amazing experience at their basketball camp, held Saturday, Oct. 20 at Roberts Creek School gym.

Muddy conditions and torn ligaments in the knee didn’t stop motocross racer Alissa Harkin from clinching second place in the Future West Moto 2018 Fall Series youth class.

The local cross-country ski program for youth is alive and kicking. In 2017, the ski group (part of the Tetrahedron Outdoor Club) renamed itself the Dakota Ridge Nordics and has never looked back.

This fall marks the tenth year of operation for the Sunshine Coast Boxing Club (SCBC) in Gibsons.

The Sunshine Coast Baseball Association will be holding its Annual General Meeting on Thursday, Oct. 25 at Gibsons & Area Community Centre from 6 to 7 p.m. – Submitted
