The Sunshine Coast Skating Club (SCSC) had 10 skaters attending the STAR Super Series Final in Kelowna, March 1 to 3. Skaters claimed five gold, two silver and one bronze, and several skaters achieved personal bests in their point scores.

The Elphinstone Senior Boys Basketball Team won the Howe Sound AA Championship Feb. 22, earning a berth in the provincial championships from March 6 to 9 at the Langley Events Centre.

The SCYSA Eagles U17 boys played an exciting game at Hackett Park on Saturday, Feb. 23 to the delight of a large group of fans. The Eagles went up against WCAGFC from Maple Ridge for a solidly competitive soccer game.

Another sunny, frosty day greeted the participants of the second race of the spring 5K series at PaceSetter. Nearly the same number of runners took part as last week, while new winners claimed the overall spots.

After an exciting weekend of hockey, three Sunshine Coast Blues A teams advance to the next round of playoffs. Atom A played Burnaby A2 in a four-point series and won both games. The first game they won 7-3 in Burnaby and then 10-3 at home.

Feb. 7 was a thrilling day for all the members of the Chatelech Ski Team because it was finals day against the North Shore League, competition they had never raced before. Even then, there were still some good results.

Skater of the month for February is Sophia McGarry. Sophia is 13 years old and is in Grade 8 at Chatelech Secondary School. Sophia attended her first competition with the club, which was the Regional Winterskate held in Richmond Feb. 1 to 3.
