Eight Sunshine Coast Skating Club skaters attended the Burnaby 8-Rinks STAR 1-4 competition March 16-17, claiming six gold and two silver.

Sunshine Coast swimmer Genny Verge has won two gold medals at the Special Olympic World Games in Abu Dhabi. Genny finished first in the 25-metre butterfly and 50-metre freestyle, with one more relay scheduled for Wednesday.

Sunshine Coast Minor Hockey’s Pewee C2 team won a Lions Gate League championship banner last Saturday. The game was settled with an exciting overtime goal, scored by Chase Stelter.

The Elphinstone Cougars’ efforts to advance to the quarterfinals of the BC basketball 2A provincials were stymied last Wednesday when they lost to the team that would eventually take third place.
