The Chatelech Girls’ Rugby team ended their season on a high note, with two teams competing in the BC Rugby High School Girls’ Provincial Sevens Championship on April 25 and 26.

With the arrival of spring comes several dry floor sports to Sunshine Coast’s two arenas. Pickleball is already underway in Gibsons, and on May 11 the Sunshine Coast Pickleball Association (SCPA) will host opening day festivities from 10:30 a.m.

Skater of the Month is April Wang. April is 13 years old and attends Grade 7 at Roberts Creek Elementary School. April says her favourite thing about skating is when she learns something new. She also loves doing spins on the ice.

Four Sunshine Coast players have been selected to represent Team BC at the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships (NAHC) in Whitehorse from May 7 to 12.

The Hitmen hosted their fifth annual Seven-a-Side Hockey Tournament April 26 to 28 at the Sechelt Ice Arena. The Tournament was another huge success, with a total of 12 teams playing in two divisions for the prestigious trophy.

Coaster 50, the annual marathon cross-country bike race that kicks off Cycling BC’s XCM series, will turn 20 years old at this year’s race scheduled for Saturday, May 4.

The Chatelech Girls’ rugby team travelled to Fen Burdett stadium in North Vancouver on April 17 to compete against the best high school Sevens teams in the Lower Mainland.

The Easter bunny had been busy hiding chocolate eggs for the runners who started the Easter weekend with a 5km or 10km trail race in and around Connor Park in Halfmoon Bay.
