The Coast Thunder ran into stiff competition last weekend in North Vancouver. Hoping for a top five finish, things didn't materialize for the Thunder and they finished 10th at the 2006 club volleyball provincials in North Vancouver.

The eight men's teams representing the Coast from Gibsons to Pender Harbour met last weekend in Gibsons for their season finale.

The Inlet Raiders captured the men's A-division title with a 4-1 win over the Suncoast Flyers last Friday night. After dropping the first game of the series, the Raiders stormed back to win the next three, capturing the series 3-1.

Katrina Driver of Vancouver smashed the women's course record by three minutes at the 29th annual Sunshine Coast April Fool's Run on Sunday, April 2, presented by Coast Cable Communications Ltd.

The Sunshine Coast Skating Club recently returned triumphant from the North Shore International competition held in North Vancouver this month. The team of 20 brought home 15 awards.

The championship A-division men's hockey final is shaping up to be quite a series. Mike Cote capped a four-point night on Tuesday, getting his hattrick goal with three seconds to go in overtime as the Inlet Raiders edged the Suncoast Flyers 5-4.

Golfers from Chatelech and Elphinstone began their quest for a provincial title this week. The high school golf season started last Friday at the Sunshine Coast Golf and Country Club as Chat and Elphi squared off in their first match of the season.

The U17 Coast Thunder competed in a U17/U18 tournament at SFU last weekend. The 16-team, two-day tournament started Saturday with round robin play.

The Sunshine Coast Youth Soccer Association (SCYSA) House Leagues had their year-end tournament last weekend with approximately 1,200 young players competing at several fields on the Coast.

The 2006 basketball season for elementary schools finished with a flurry of games last Tuesday and Wednesday at Elphinstone Secondary School.
