The Sunshine Coast Boxing Club has a new lease on life and a new squared circle to call its own. The club recently re-located from the Gibsons and Area Community Centre to a new boxing gym at 1010 Chamberlin Rd.

After three successful exhibition games against the Powell River Regals, the Sechelt Hitmen are taking a shot at their first full season of senior men's AA hockey.

Following on the heels of their resurrected junior golf program, the Sechelt Golf and Country Club (SG&CC) played host to its inaugural Junior Invitational tournament on Sept. 1 with great success.

Garden Bay native Kyle Bruce is on the move again. The Braehead Clan, based in Glasgow, Scotland, of the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL), signed the 27-year-old right-winger to a contract last week.

The Sunshine Coast Golf and Country Club held its annual junior club championships under sunny skies Aug. 23/24. Fourteen juniors competed across two age divisions in a stroke play format.

The Scorpions U12 boys' rep soccer team kicked off this year's season with a stellar performance at the annual Chilliwack tournament. Saturday, Aug. 28, saw the Scorpions sizzle in their first match against Mission, winning 3-1.

The Powell River Kings opened training camp on Aug. 26 with 41 recruits and high expectations for the upcoming season.

Many of them had never laced up a pair of skates before, but by the end of the week, they were zipping around the ice like seasoned, veteran hockey players.

Volleyball is king on the Sunshine Coast, as evidenced by a successful summer volleyball camp and summer beach season. Last week the Chatelech Secondary School gym was the setting for the annual Sunshine Coast summer volleyball camp.

The Sunshine Coast Women's Hockey League got a boost for their upcoming season with a week-long skills camp as part of the Sunshine Coast Hockey School.
