Booty shorts and body shots roller derby hit the Coast big time last Saturday afternoon.

The Sunshine Coaster Mountain Bike Race saw 162 cross-country riders and 200 downhill racers take to the trails in Roberts Creek April 30 and May 1.

The U12 Scorpions prevailed in their season finale with a hard-fought 5-4 victory against the North Vancouver Surge in the North Shore Cup gold finals. Competitive from the outset, both teams battled hard for possession.

With two weeks of racing under their belts, riders from Chatelech and Elphinstone look to be solid contenders once again in the North Shore high school mountain bike racing series.

The Sunshine Coast Boxing Club had a perfect night at the Golden Gloves held April 15 to 16 in Richmond, with all three fighters entered returning as champions.

Cold, windy, rainy and even snowy weather in early April has caused the baseball season to get off to a slow start. The midget teams (ages 16 to 18) from Sechelt and Gibsons each had three games cancelled due to unsuitable weather.

The London Jr. Knights proved to be too much for Sechelt's Scott Legault and the Vancouver North West Giants last weekend at the Telus Cup.

After a successful high school season, more success has come to Elphinstone players Nate Hagland and TJ Turenne. Both players recently attended tryouts on the North Shore for selection on provincial regional teams.
