After a successful high school season, more success has come to Elphinstone players Nate Hagland and TJ Turenne.

Both players recently attended tryouts on the North Shore for selection on provincial regional teams. Out of 32 participants, only 12 were picked to represent the North Shore, including the two Elphi players.

The team will practise for five weeks and play some exhibition games in preparation for the provincial jamboree May 20 to 22 at the Langley Events Centre. From this event, provincial teams will be chosen to represent B.C. at the national level.

Rosters announced for BC Cup

BC Hockey announced April 12 the rosters for the male U16 BC Cup being held in Kamloops from April 28 to May 1. The teams were selected from the various zone camps held across B.C. from April 1 to 3.

Sunshine Coast players include forward Braedon Cross, who will play on the Thrashers, while goalie Blake Pearson will play on the Flyers. The BC Cup is a jamboree style tournament. That means the players from each zone are mixed together to form the teams. The male high performance program has added an additional 40 players to the 2011 BC Cup, bringing the total players to 200 and number of competing teams to 10.

The event offers the top male players in the BC Hockey high performance U16 program the unique experience of competing with the best players in their age group from across the province. The objective of the program is to enhance the overall performance of B.C. athletes, coaches and officials in high level sporting events.

The top 68 players selected from the U16 BC Cup will advance to compete in the U16 provincial camp. The provincial camp will be held in Penticton from June 29 to July 4 and will showcase the best talent that B.C. has to offer.
