'Wendy was responsible for encouraging both her family and ours to make a journey by ship from England to Canada, it was August 1967.  There were nine of us, six adults and Mum had the three of us,  six years, three years and a six month old. We left from Liverpool on a big ship and off we went. There were many stories to be told throughout the voyage and since.'

The Coastal Martial Arts Open took place in Port Alberni on June 3. This annual tournament brings together martial artists from various styles including Karate, Kung Fu, Tae Kwon Do and Kenpo.
