Editor: The development of pipelines to export Canadian oil across the Pacific is an opportunity for our country that will not be matched anytime soon. There are risks in every major development.

Editor: Is the lowest bidder a good flight plan for a municipality? After reading the economic development article (Coast Reporter, Oct. 26), I wonder if the "lowest bidder" philosophy is a good one.

Editor: In one week Prime Minister Harper will commit Canada to the Canada-China Foreign Investment Protection Agreement (FIPA). This agreement will enable China's massive companies to spend billions buying out our natural resource companies.

Editor: This is the time of year that we don our poppies in memory of those who have fallen in wars. Many poppies are red. I wear a white poppy to commemorate all victims of war.

Editor: Narrows Inlet Hydro Holding Corp. is proposing to construct the Narrows Inlet Hydro project which consists of five hydroelectric facilities in the Tzoonie River Valley approximately 50km north of Sechelt.

We all were saddened by the news of 15-year-old Amanda Todd, the Port Coquitlam teen who committed suicide a few weeks ago after bullies tormented her.
