On April 29 while I was at a well-attended meeting convened to update concerned citizens of Sechelt on developments at the much touted wastewater treatment plant, I learned that our mayor and council had - out of view and without public discussion - made important, pre-determined decisions. I believe, to avoid notifying the public when it could have and should have, this 'trusted body of elected officials,' using the device of in camera meetings, has foisted upon an unaware public a dishonest and costly deceit.
Independent professional consultants were appointed to appraise two proposed sites: Dusty Road and Ebbtide. Dusty Road was confirmed as being the preferable location. One wonders what really motivated the secret changes and what further in camera surprises lie in store.
