Ms. Para has erred in stating that water metering is unfair taxation, claiming that “we already pay for water based on our property values.” Funny, my property tax statement says that the water charge is a parcel tax, meaning all property owners pay the same regardless of property value. The statement that there are alternatives for the commodities for which we are charged based on consumption, such as electricity, is misleading in that these alternatives are neither feasible nor practical. I assume she does not believe we should all pay the same for our food regardless of how much we eat. Water metering, bring it on.
