The following letter was sent to SCRD and forwarded to Coast Reporter for publication. I took my toddlers to Shirley Macey Park recently to play in the playground and to run with them on the soccer field.

Editor: Concerning school board chair Betty Baxter’s letter, “The good news side of the story” (Coast Reporter, Oct. 10), no one is debating the quality of our elementary school.

Editor: Re: “Time to think again about road link” (Coast Reporter letters, Oct. 3). Robert Cannon-Brown has made a very good suggestion and I’d like to add some more thoughts in support.

Editor: In my opinion, the airport runway extension project is vital to the economic growth of the Sunshine Coast. I have lived and worked on the Coast since 1978.

Editor: Your question of the week (Coast Reporter, Oct. 10) is whether the Vital Signs report is an important tool for local government. Absolutely — and what timing — right as the municipal elections kick off.

The following letter was sent to Mike Corrigan, president, BC Ferries, and Todd Stone, Minister of Transportation, and copied to Coast Reporter.

Editor: Knock me over with a feather. Todd Stone says that the BC Ferries are ‘burdened’ with a $1.25 billion debt, and it’s ‘off the books’ right now (Coast Reporter, Oct. 3).

Editor: Re: “Something must be done” (Coast Reporter letters, Oct. 3) While residents have the option to combine the BC Services Card with their B.C. driver’s licence, separate cards will always be an option.

Editor: Re: “Sewage outfall in Sechelt Marsh” (Coast Reporter, Oct. 10).
