Editor: The letter from G.M. Campbell of Madeira Park (“An affront to democracy,” June 26) is one of the best written I have read in a long time, and I congratulate him and agree with every word.

Editor: Re: The Canada Day pullout feature’s “Canada: Home to interesting history” and “Important moments in Canadian history,” June 26. I am dismayed, disgusted actually, by the inclusion of such contributions to our local paper.

Editor: Re: “No more redesigns for George,” June 26. An ultimatum is not a tool to be used towards a community; it is more often used during a tantrum. Tweaking a plan six times is an integral part of development, not a concession nor a conclusion.

An open letter to BC Ferries: The car parking lot at Langdale terminal has been full twice this year. Coincidently, the Canadian women’s soccer team played on both of those days in Vancouver at 4:30 p.m. in the FIFA World Cup.

Editor: This dry spell is very worrying and as I go about my daily routine I’m constantly thinking of ways to conserve water. Here’s a list of simple ways to ration this precious stuff during the heat wave.

Editor: Over the past couple weeks I’ve noticed children playing in sprinklers, playing with water coming out of the hose, even one child just standing watching water come out a hose.
