The Sunshine Coast Golf and Country Club (SCGCC) will play host to some of the top senior men's golfers next week. The 2004 B.C. Senior Men's Championship will begin play bright and early at 7 a.m. Tuesday morning. The event, organized by the B.C.

Blake Mithrush will be battling for one of the top prizes in Canadian golf next week. The Halfmoon Bay resident and regular at the Sechelt Golf and Country Club has qualified for the 2004 Canadian Amateur Championship, which will be contested Aug.

Some familiar faces will return to the Coast later this month to help coach some of the future hockey stars of tomorrow. Brad Wingfield and Ryan Esselmont will join Denise North as head instructors for the Sunshine Coast Hockey School, set for Aug.

The softball season ended on a bit of a down note for the Gibsons Peewee Crusherz in Kamloops.

On The Edge Race Club (OTE) was a force to be reckoned with at the B.C. provincial mountain bike championships last weekend in Squamish. This event is a one-day, winner-take-all championship as opposed to the B.C.

Last weekend's competition proved to be too much for the Gibsons Bantam All-star team as they dropped three out of four games. Saturday started off in familiar fashion as Gibsons shut out the Surrey Canadians 4-0.

The all-star baseball season is in full swing in Gibsons. All three teams this year began play earlier this month and have already shown the form that sent a number of teams to the provincials last year.

Young athletes from the Sunshine Coast put on a dazzling display at this year's B.C. Summer Games in Abbotsford. The event held last weekend brought together more than 2,400 athletes who competed in 25 sports during the four-day competition.

Youngsters went back to school this week at Connor Park. Only they used baseball bats and gloves, rather than pencils and notebooks.
