Last weekend, the club played host to its annual mixed bonspiel, while the weekend prior, the juvenile curlers took centre stage.

The mixed bonspiel had 20 teams compete with seven from off-Coast. The event started last Friday and wrapped up with an exciting A-event final on Sunday.

The winners were the Jared Wannamaker rink from Gibsons including Juanita Wannamaker, Ken Johnson and Elaine Tattrie. They defeated the Gerry Webb rink, also from Gibsons, 5-4 on a last rock draw. Webb's rink included Wilma Webb, Mark Hussey and Chris Younghusband.

Third in the A-event was the Ron Corman rink and fourth was the Kevin Krake rink. Both teams are from Gibsons.

The B-event winners were the Dwayne Clegg foursome from Gibsons, which included Nadine Lowden, Howie Larsen and Carol Skytte.

The Mike Fitzsimmons rink from Langley was second while Norm Cole's rink from Powell River was third.

Dan Beketa and his team of Krys Beketa, Bob Bromley and L.J. Walls finished first in the C-event. Darcy Clarke from Gibsons was third while Ted Booth from Chilliwack was fourth.

On the Jan. 14 to 16 weekend, 13 juvenile teams competed in zones three and four.

In zone three, there were four boys' teams. The Bryan Kedziora team of Erik Knechtel, Craig Archibald and Tyler McKenzie defeated the Horita team 6-4 in the final game of the double knock-out event.

The zone three girls had two teams. The Jami McMartin team of Sarah Neal, Angela Miller and Jennifer Allen defeated the Field team in a best-of-three final.
