Local coach and trainer Margaret Page has a busy year coming up. As of July 1, Page became the District 21 governor of Toastmasters International. Her territory covers the entire province of B.C. and includes 285 clubs and almost 5,000 members.

Back by popular demand, the Sunshine Coast Museum and Archives in Gibsons presents another sacred drum workshop next Saturday. Tsawaysia Spukwus will lead the workshop on Saturday, July 14, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the museum.

Mary Anne Darney is this year's recipient of the Frances Fleming Inspirational Award given annually by School District No. 46 to an individual or group who exemplifies Fleming's ability to inspire others in the education field.

Friends of the Sechelt Library are bringing back a community favourite - books fairs. Instead of one blow out sale per year, a series of book fairs will be held throughout the summer every second Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Gibsons Public Art Gallery (GPAG) will get a street level, accessible gallery with more space for exhibitions and a room for a permanent collection in Lower Gibsons before the end of the year.

The 44th annual Sea Cavalcade weekend is fast approaching July 28 and 29.

Catch a Trout Day is back at the Chapman Creek Hatchery in Wilson Creek on Saturday, July 7. The popular family event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Sappho's Circle and the Pride Committee of the Sunshine Coast present an evening of celebration on June 29 at Roberts Creek Community Hall to mark 42 years since the Stonewall Riots.
