Last Saturday, March 16, saw almost 50 people show up to the St. Patty's Trail Day event at Connor Park in Halfmoon Bay to open up and maintain a new beginner-friendly trail near the dirt jumps.

"We basically hit all our goals," said Jonas Lomax, one of the organizers and current Capilano University Mountain Bike Operations (MBO) student. "We had enough people show up, we got a lot of work done on the trail, and everyone had a great time."

After spending the morning working on the yet-to-be-named trail, everyone was offered free lunch thanks to Claytons in Sechelt. Draw prizes were tossed out courtesy of Dyra Apparel. After all that excitement, guided mountain bike rides ended the day. With a little something for everyone, the three groups of various skill levels rode anywhere between 45 minutes and more than two hours.

To follow up with the St. Patty's Trail Day event, the bike community is invited to come and join in on the Dig 'n' Ride Day at Sprockids Park in Gibsons this Sunday, March 24, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bring your shovel to help out students of the MBO program in installing signage in the Sprockids Park. Free lunch provided and afternoon fun with jump demo from amazing riders. For more information, call 604-885-9310.
