The District of Sechelt hosted a community dialogue called Faces of Sechelt, Saturday, Feb. 6, at the Seaside Centre, to look at how Sechelt can become more welcoming and inclusive of its diverse community.

Amber, Lili and Talia invited birthday guests to bring Haiti donations instead of presents. Nickki and Emily had saved $400 for a tropical vacation. They dumped every cent in the Haiti relief pot.

It started with a class discussion on Monday morning, Jan. 25.

The Coast Recital Society (CRS) invites Sunshine Coast classical music students to submit applications for the annual CRS scholarships. CRS scholarships are open to local music students, 25 years or younger, who are studying classical music.

They won't be competing, but they will play a big role in determining who will win gold, silver and bronze in figure skating and women's hockey at the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Five Sechelt firefighters will head to Whistler in early February, to provide first aid, fire prevention, and - if necessary - firefighting skills to safeguard Olympic attendees and venues.
