National Indigenous Peoples Day, June 21, was marked by the local chapter of the United Canadian Métis Nation with a celebration at Sechelt’s Seaside Centre.

Local student athletes attended the BC Provincial Track and Field Championships the weekend of June 8 to 10.

As of May 31, the Pender Harbour Health Centre provides Better at Home services to residents from Halfmoon Bay to Egmont, and the SCCSS provides it to residents from West Sechelt to Port Mellon.

'Ernie worked at Howe Sound Pulp & Paper as a longshoreman and locomotive operator. He loved working in his garden and tending his flowers. He was generous with the fruits and vegetables of his labour. He was also an avid miniature car collector and he proudly displayed them for his wife to "lovingly" dust. He will be missed.'

A push to reduce stigma and beautify downtown Sechelt is getting creative 

Langdale Elementary School student Seth Lamoureux recently participated in an Aquamarathon fundraiser for his year-end Grade 7 graduation camping trip. Seth was asking for sponsors – gathering 25 cent and $1 per pool length pledges – when one local pledged $25 per length.
