The other day while hiking in my usual spot on the back side of Mount Elphinstone, I came across a newly dumped pile of garbage. I was immediately able to find several pieces of mail with the same name andaddress on it.

I am writing to say thank you to the doctors, nurses, technicians and aides of St. Mary's Hospital. I recently had to spend five hours in the hospital undergoing a number of medical tests.

On Wednesday, May 13, I received my annual utilities invoice dated April 30. Enclosed was a clean up event coupon that expired on April 30. I had visited the dump on May 9 with my spring cleanup load.

CoastRide is Sandy Hook and East Porpoise Bay's ride-sharing through hitch-hiking programme. On May 27, CoastRide will make a presentation before the Sechelt council. CoastRide presently has 71 members.

I would like to thank everyone who was involved in my re-election campaign, and all those who became engaged in the political process. Powell River - Sunshine Coast had almost 60 per cent voter turnout.

Last Tuesday B.C. voted for both our MLAs, and either yes or no for STV - the proposed new electoral system. Many people say they want a new system, but not STV.

As a student at the University of Guelph in the early 2000s, I taught English as a second language (ESL) to families of visiting professors and international students to help pay the rent.

Now that the provincial election is in the books and government is slowly getting back into the swing of things, is it not time to get back to the bargaining table and hammer out a deal with B.C.

Tuesday, May 12 was a red-letter day for me. I was part of something with far reaching implications for the future. And I'm not talking about voting in the provincial election.

Editor: In her column (Coast Reporter, May 1) Shannon Bond stated, "the effort to get down to the beach is too much to overcome with dignity intact." Forget dignity, it is impossible at any time.
