Editor: The year 2012 has arrived, and with it comes one of the most important decisions British Columbians will ever have to make. It will affect not only us but our children for generations to come.

It's 3 a.m. and you are sound asleep in your bed when suddenly you are startled out of your slumber by the sound of explosions.

Editor: As I write this letter, I am still reeling from the verbal assault that I witnessed on a customer service representative at our IGA store in Gibsons the day after Boxing Day.

Editor: While I agree with Keith Maxwell (Coast Reporter letters, Dec.

On Dec. 14, my husband and I boarded the ferry to come home to Sechelt from St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, where I had had open-heart surgery six days before.

Editor: Ben Ingram in his Views column greets us with Happy Holidays. In case you had not noticed, it's Christmas, regardless of race, colour or creed.

Editor: We don't need a so-called smart meter to tell us how much energy we're using. Being mindful, we only use what we need and turn off what we don't.

The following letter was sent to Santa Claus and copied to Coast Reporter for publication. Dear Santa: On behalf of all the motorists in Gibsons, thank you, thank you. Well sort of.

Editor: Along with other readers of Coast Reporter, I am disgusted at the price of gas on the Coast. I suggest that if you can't get off the Coast to be able to fill up, as many of us are unable to, just buy $5 or $10 at a time.

It would appear, judging by the number of near misses with pedestrians lately, that Sunshine Coast motorists are in bad need of remedial driving lessons.
