Editor: Re: Jan. 29 editorial, “One more fixed link study to go.” Comparing the fixed link study from Vancouver Island to Gabriola Island with the proposed link to the Sunshine Coast is tempting, but our circumstances could hardly be more different.

Editor: On Family Day, the Sechelt Aquatic Centre was open only from noon to 4 p.m. The best centre in Sechelt for Family Day fun was otherwise closed on Family Day.

Editor: On Monday, Feb. 8 (Family Day), my 16-year-old was behind the wheel of our mini-van with his Learners’ L prominently displayed.

Editor: So, it’s the Year of the Monkey. Good. Our Coast could do with a little more monkey business, in my opinion. Each of us could do something irrational, like forgive an enemy. Or commit a random act of reconciliation.

Editor: Recently I was walking with my dogs up at the power lines in Selma Park. About 100 feet from Reservoir Road on a wide dirt path, we came across a fresh deer skeleton that someone had unceremoniously dumped there.

Re: “SCRD chops, changes advisory committees” (Coast Reporter, Feb. 5). SCRD Board: I am concerned about the plan to disband SCRD volunteer advisory committees. Advisory committees are not simply another form of public engagement.
